In 1648 West Farms, or more commonly known West Haven was established. In 1822 the towns West Farms and North Milford joined and became the town of Orange. It was not until 1961 that West Haven got the name it has today.West Haven’s biggest local attraction is Savin Rock Park. George Kelsey, a civil war veteran, built a 1500-foot pier to hold rides and penny games to bring people of all ages. The amusement park started with a lavish hotel and continued to grow with the help of local businesses. Before the park closed a fountain, carousel, zoo, and museum all became part of the amusement park. This specific location brought people of all ages and all walks of life together. After a hurricane and many fires the iconic amusement park shut down. The Savin Rock Museum sits were the amusement park once sat. With the help of federal and state grants the park lives on through the stories told at the museum.Another special event our community has is the Savin Rock Festival. This annual event brings back the spirit of the old park and the good ol’ days of West Haven. For one weekend, community members celebrate with local food vendors and local bands. This year the event will start Thursday July 27th and continue till Sunday July 30th.West Haven is the youngest city in Connecticut. With the help of the neighbors in our community and other local businesses we continue to grow. Keep Safe Storage loves our community and we know you will too!
